We had our 20 week ultrasound today and we are so excited to announce that it’s a girl! I think Papa is a little nervous about how much this little girl is going to cost him, but I know he is excited. She weighed 11 ounces and was measuring right on target for August 9th. We can’t wait to meet her!

Milestone
Owen hit a huge milestone this Sunday at church…he made it through the whole mass (not in the cry room). Owen has been a challenge to take to church since birth. The Cathedral in Houma does not have a cry room and this doesn’t leave too many options when you have a toddler who doesn’t know how to whisper or sit still. We usually end up standing with him in the back hallway where we can’t see or hear. I am not sure what got into him this weekend, but he was on his best behavior. He only had one large outburst during communion…he thought everyone was leaving and he had to tell them “BYE!” We treated him to brunch after mass to celebrate. The test will be if he can repeat this same behavior next Sunday…

St. Patrick’s Day
We went to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Baton Rouge this weekend. Owen had a blast. He went all day with no nap and didn’t have any melt downs. That is huge! There were lots of kids for him to play with and he got to stay outside all day. We watched the parade and then hung out at Mrs. Adie’s house for a crawfish boil. We all had a great time. Owen fell asleep at 6:00 pm when we got in the car and slept through the night. He was pooped!

Cupcakes and 2 Year Olds
I brought cupcakes to school for Owen’s birthday and it was quite the disaster. The kids absolutely loved it, but they were a mess! We sang Happy Birthday (just once), ate cupcakes, and then the teachers set them free outside.
This concluded Owen’s birthday week and I must say I am exhausted ;)

Breakfast in Bed
It has been a long standing tradition in our family that you get breakfast in bed on your birthday. We weren’t sure Big John was quite ready to have his breakfast in bed this year…so we compromised with breakfast on the couch. He ordered his usual…oatmeal and milk. We put a candle in his oatmeal and sang to him three times (that seems to be the magic number). You’d swear we were having another party. He was thrilled! He is taking full advantage of being the birthday boy this year :)
Owen Patrick,
I can’t believe you are already two. It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing you home from the hospital. We knew from the beginning that you were going to be a funny kid, but we had no idea what you had in store for us. You have made us laugh, cry, and kept us on our toes these past two years…and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Happy Birthday!
We love you more!

“Ooo-Ooo Pawty”
The Pre-Party
The fun jump arrived in the morning so Owen and Cecilia got to take full advantage of it. We thought for sure they would wear themselves out before the party even started, but that didn’t even come close to happening.

Party Time
Papa and Bon Pa cooking up burgers and hot dogs…and Parrain having a cold one.![]()

We definitely got our money’s worth with the fun jump. Owen was addicted and wanted everyone to come jump with him.
“Come Papa come”
He made us light the candles and sing to him three times (“More More!”)…and then we cut him off ;)![]()
He wasn’t too wild about opening his presents, but Brooke was all over it.
And of course Owen was sick for his party. He had fever right under 103. Luckily the fever hit towards the end of the party so he didn’t miss much. He was feeling pretty rotten…but he still didn’t want to get off of the fun jump. ![]()
The After-Party
Once Owen’s tylenol kicked in and all our guests had gone home, he came back for more. We lit the candles and sang to him three more times…and we were still singing the next morning at breakast.
Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate with us!
